Apply for Your Chance to Create this Year’s ArtWave Mural at Countryside Mall!

ArtWave at Countryside Mall is calling upon the talents of our vibrant art community for the unique chance to create this year's mural. One local artist will have the chance to showcase their Artwork at Countryside Mall and be chosen to install our 5th permanent Art Installation. 

The winner will receive a $2000 Cash Prize and $500 in Art Supplies to complete the mural, a 30-day Art Showcase, and a permanent mural in the ArtWave Art Program Showcase. All four finalists will receive an invitation to the Artist-led Art Project at Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation this September!

Mural Specifications:

Theme: Popular Items from 1975 Found in or Around The Mall

Key Element Examples: 1970s fashion, 1975 Oldsmobile Cutlass, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the founding of Microsoft.

Application Process:

Completed applications will be accepted from April 1st - April 15th. Artwork Submissions of those applicants will close the 20th. If you have applied for the competition please submit your work within the timeframe to be part of the judging process.

Please complete the art submission form in full, including a finalized mock-up of your mural design. 

Our judges will review applications and interview applicants from April 20th - April 22nd. 

Community Voting Begins on the 25th.

The 4 finalists will be announced on April 25th, and their proposed mural will be displayed at Countryside Mall for community voting from April 25th - May 14th. Our 2024 winner will be announced on May 15th.

FRANKIE G. IS BACK!

Frankie G was born and raised in Miami, FL, but now calls Tampa, FL home. Inspired by the world around him, his creative journey began with drawing comic book scenes during childhood. Over time, he shifted his focus to capturing both contemporary pop culture icons and legendary figures from the past. His artistic vision revolves around merging traditional painting techniques with modern urban art styles. To achieve his distinctive perspective, Frankie G integrates various mediums ranging from acrylics to spray paint into all of his work.

CHAD MIZE

Chad Mize is a multimedia artist, designer and muralist residing in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1974, and then moved to Tampa Bay Florida, where he spent most of his childhood. An early interest in art resulted in his earning a BFA in Visual Communications at the University of Mississippi. With a love for past and contemporary culture, he takes a humorous, tongue-in-cheek approach to his designs, which include playful doodles, colorful patterns, political art and graphics with text.
